AI Setup
AI Setup (page /dashboard/ai-assist) connects your own AI provider to Skilltube: you paste an API key, test it and save it. Bring your own AI provider to unlock AI tools — your API usage is billed directly by your provider.
Open AI Setup
- Sign in and open your Dashboard.
- Click the AI Setup card (Connect your AI provider).
- Or simply use an AI feature first: a dialog says "Please connect your AI provider in AI Setup before using AI features." and its OK takes you there.
The page opens with OpenAI selected.
Choose a Provider and Get a Key
Twelve providers are listed: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Grok, Meta, DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi, Qwen, Doubao, Xiaomi, OpenRouter. The right column How to get your API key shows the instructions and console link for the one you pick:
- OpenAI → platform.openai.com/api-keys
- Anthropic → console.anthropic.com/settings/keys
- Gemini → aistudio.google.com/apikey
- DeepSeek → platform.deepseek.com/api_keys
- Qwen → bailian.console.alibabacloud.com
- Kimi → platform.moonshot.cn/console/api-keys
- GLM → open.bigmodel.cn/usercenter/apikeys
- Doubao → console.volcengine.com/ark
- Meta → llama.meta.com/llama-api
- Grok → console.x.ai
Xiaomi has no console link — you enter an OpenAI-compatible endpoint yourself.
Enter the Key and Test
- Paste the key into API Key — it is masked, and the eye button shows or hides it.
- When a provider needs its own endpoint, a Base URL field appears below (selecting Xiaomi shows it).
- Click Test. With nothing filled in you get the hint "Please enter your API Key".
- A passing test shows "Connection successful" and fills the model list; a rejected key shows "Connection failed. Check your API Key and network, then try again."
The page also states: "Security note: your key is encrypted before storage and never shown in full again."
Model and Connection Status
- The Model dropdown stays disabled until a test succeeds, then lists the models your key can use. With an existing connection the saved model is pre-selected.
- Below it, three status lines show Model:, API Key: (a masked hint) and Connected · Last checked: with a date. All three stay blank until you have a connection.
Cancel, Disconnect and Save
- Cancel — leaves without saving and goes back (or to the Dashboard).
- Disconnect — appears only once a connection exists; it warns "Disconnect this AI provider? Your stored key will be deleted immediately. Existing AI content is not affected." and then clears the key, model and status.
- Save — creates the connection, or updates the model and key of an existing one. It looks dimmed while nothing is connected, but it still answers: missing pieces raise a hint dialog such as "Please enter your API Key".
🔍 Tip: Run Test before Save — a passing test fills the model list and confirms your key actually works.
